My name is Tom Hill & I am a new member of Pen Y Bont Triathlon club.
I have been involved in sport all my life & when my rugby days came to an end I became a keen runner.
I lived on the Isle of Wight for 12 years where I was a member of the local running club.
Living by the seaside & with lots of country lanes , I did a lot of swimming & biking, so, without realising it I was sort of doing triathlon training already.
A few people in my running club were also members of the island triathlon club and encouraged me to join them.
COVID put back most triathlon activities but as infection rates on the island were very low we were were able to put on low key club events incorporating any 2 of the 3 triathlon disciplines.
That was it, I had the triathlon bug.
With most of our family & friends back in Wales we decided to move back. I joined PYBTC shortly after and being an older member I really didn't know what to expect.
What I found was an exceptionally friendly group of people who made me feel part of the club from day one.
Since joining the club my fitness has improved beyond anything I thought possible.
This was partly due to my efforts but mainly due to the coaching & encouragement at the club.
I really enjoy the team spirit at training sessions and look forward to seeing what levels of fitness I can achieve.
This really is a club for all all ages & abilities
